Common Questions

Installation and Account

Subscriptions and Purchases

Question: How do I manage my subscription?

Answer: Subscriptions are managed through your device settings:

You can cancel anytime, and the subscription will end at the current billing period.

Question: Can I restore my purchase on a new device?

Answer: Subscriptions are tied to your App Store or Google Play account. Sign in with the same account on your new device to restore access.

Data and Backup

Question: What happens to my data if I switch devices?

Answer: Your data is stored only on your device. When switching devices:

  1. Use the backup feature (in App > Export) to create an encrypted backup file
  2. Transfer the backup file to your new device
  3. Use the restore function to import the backup

Actbook cannot restore your data if the backup file is lost.

Question: Can I export my data?

Answer: Yes. Use App > Export to create an encrypted backup file. You can transfer this file to another device or keep it as a backup.

Question: Will the app back up to iCloud or Google Drive automatically?

Answer: No. The app is configured to exclude data from iCloud Backup by design. You are responsible for creating manual backups via the export feature.

Technical Issues

Question: The app keeps crashing.

Answer:

  1. Force close the app (swipe up on iOS, long-press on Android)
  2. Restart your device
  3. Update to the latest version of Actbook
  4. If problems persist, clear the app cache or reinstall

Biometric Features

Question: Where is my thumbprint stored?

Answer: Your thumbprint is stored only on your device in encrypted local storage. It is never uploaded to our servers or any cloud service.

Question: Can I recover a thumbprint I lost?

Answer: Thumbprints are stored only on the device where you created them. If you lose access to that device, you will need to recapture the thumbprint on a new device.

Legal and Compliance

Question: Is this app secure?

Answer: Your data is encrypted at rest using military-grade encryption. The encryption key is stored securely in your device's Keychain. No single failure compromises your data.

Question: What notary rules are included?

Answer: The app includes general guidelines for common acts in the United States. Always verify rules with your state's notary board and consult legal counsel for specific questions.
